2. Vedha : When a planet transits through a house (favourable or unfavourable), if there is another planet in the Vedha house, the effects of transit (good or bad) will not be felt. Vedha houses are given in the next page.
We know that transit of Sun is good in houses III, VI, X, and XI. But if there is any planet in IX, XII, IV, and V, Sun's good effects will not be felt. Similarly, Mars is good in III, VI and XIth houses. But if there is any planet in XII, IX, and V, its good effects will

not be felt. It may also be kept in mind that there is no Vedha between Sun & Saturn and Moon & Mercury. In simple words, it means if Sun is in III and Saturn is in IX, there will be no Vedha. Had it been any planet other than Saturn, Vedha would have been there and no effects would have been felt.
3. Suppose, Sun is in XII and vedha occurs due to presence of a planet in VI, then the bad effects of Sun in XII will not be felt. Hence, vedha is true for bad effects also.
. A planet while transitting a favourable house (I, IV, V, VII, IX, X) in its exaltation, own or friendly sign, will generate good results, according to its strength, whereas when in inimical or depression sign, it will not produce good results.
5. A planet while transitting an unfavourable house (VI, VIII, XII) in its exaltation, own, or friendly sign will generate only bad results according to its strength, but when in its inimical or depression sign, it will produce maximum evil results.
6. If the transitting planet is benefic in unfavourable house, it reduces the bad results. If the transitting planet is benefic in favourable house, it enhances good results.
7. If the transitting planet is malefic in favourable house, it reduces the good results. If the transitting planet is malefic in unfavourable house, it will produce maximum bad results.
8. During transit if a benefic planet aspects or associates the transitting benefic planet, very good effects will be there.
9. During transit if a malefic planet aspects or associates the transitting malefic planet, very bad effects will be there.
10. A retrograde benefic while transitting a favourable house will increase the good results. A retrograde benefic planet while transitting an unfavourable house, will produce minimum bad results.
11. A retrograde malefic while transitting a favourable house will neutralize the good results. A retrograde malefic planet while transitting an unfavourable house will increase the bad results.
12. A benefic planet while transitting a favourable house will generate maximum good results in its own period as per Vimshottari Dasha. But a benefic planet while transitting an unfavourable house during its period as per Vimshottari Dasha will reduce the bad results.
13. A malefic planet while transitting a favourable house will reduce bad results in its own period as per Vimshottari Dasha. But a malefic planet while transitting an unfavourable house during its period as per Vimshottari Dasha will increase the bad results.
14. A combust planet while transitting a favourable house will not produce good / bad results, as the case may be.
15. If a planet while transitting a favourable house is hemmed between two malefic, good results will not be felt. If a planet while transitting an unfavourable house is hemmed between two malefics, maximum bad results will be felt.
16. For minute examination of transit effects, the longitude of Moon is taken into account. We know that Saturn is good in IIIrd house from Moon. Hence, Saturn when reaches IIIrd house should be good. But it does not do so. In actual practice, we find this good effect is delayed. Why? because this good result will occur only when Saturn in IIIrd house reaches the same longitude as that of Moon. Supposing longitude of Moon was 13°55' in IIIrd house. To calculate the time that Saturn will take to reach 13°55', use the following formula :
1° = 1 Month (as Saturn takes 30 months to travels 30° (1 sign)
Hence, 13° 55', say 14° = about 14 months. Hence, we find the result is delayed by 14 months. The good effects of Saturn in IIIrd house will be 14 months after Saturn enters IIIrd house.
Formula for other planets :
For Sun, Mercury, Venus 1° = 1 day
For Jupiter 1° = 13 days
For Rahu 1° = 18 days
17. Some authorities also maintain that Sun & Mars give their maximum effects when they enter a sign from 0° to 10°. Jupiter and Venus give their effects when they are at 10° to 20° in a sign, Moon and Saturn in the last third of sign, i.e. 20° to 30°. Mercury and Rahu are always same throughout the sign.
18. It is also maintained by eminent professors that different planets give their result of next sign in advance. Sun would give the result of next sign 5 days in advance, Mon 72 minutes, Mars 8 days, Mer 2 days, Jup 45 days, Ven 4 days, Sat 6 months, and Rahu & Ketu 3 months in advance.
Generally speaking, like in interpreting birth horoscopes, balancing is always done. If a benefic planet is in inimical sign, its good effect is reduced. If a malefic planet is aspected by benefic planet, its bad results are reduced. Similarly, in transit also, the balancing should always be done. That is, if the transitting planet is benefic, and it is transitting unfavourable house, good and bad effects are neutralised. If the transitting planet is malefic transitting unfavourable houses, being aspected by malefic planets, bad effects will be enhanced.
Also, if a planet is strong and benefic in birth chart; in transit it is in exaltation, own or friendly sign, and if its period is running, very good effects will be felt. It is always to be remembered that wherever we have talked of good or bad effects, these always pertain to the house(s) associated with the concerned planet(s) or the things/articles represented by the concerned planet(s).
It may also be kept in mind that throughout the book we have used numbers, e.g. 1, 2, 6, 9 etc. representing signs, and Roman numbers, e.g. I, II, VI, IX, etc. representing houses.

Houses
The entire natal chart or horoscope is divided into 12 parts, known as Houses. Each house consists of 30°. Each house has its own characteristics.
Please note that the houses are divisions of the birth chart, whereas the signs are divisions of the zodiac, although both consist of 30° each.
The entire life is represented in these 12 houses. The Ist house is always located under Ascendant or Rising Sign. Ascendant is the rising sign at the time of birth of an individual. This is calculated mathematically and varies in each case according to date, time and place of a particular birth.
For example, for a particular birth Ascendant is Virgo (6). The skeleton horoscope, with 6 in the top centre and succeeding signs placed anti-clockwise is shown in the margin.
Classification
Angular/Kendra Houses : I, IV, VII, X
Succedent/Panphara Houses : II, (V), VIII, XI
Cadent/Apoklima Houses : III, VI, (IX), XII
Trine /Trikona Houses : (I), V, IX
Evil (Dusthana) Houses : VI, VIII, XII
Planets posited in Angular houses are the strongest, then the planets in Trine houses, then the planets in Succedent houses and then the planets in Cadent houses. Houses VI, VIII and XII are always considered evil houses.

Manglik Dosh
When Mars is posted in Ist, IVth, VIIth, VIIIth or XIIth house in a horoscope, its native is said to be suffering from Manglik Dosh. A boy/girl suffering from Manglik Dosh should marry a girl/boy who is also suffering from Manglik Dosh. The extent of this Dosh has been unduly heightened. About 45% horoscopes are Manglik, as can be seen from the fact that out of 12 houses, Mars posited in one of the 5 houses makes the horoscope Manglik. This makes it still worse when we find that many eminent pundits declare that this should also be examined from Moon Horoscope as well Venus horoscope. Still, some of the astrologers maintain that this should be considered a Manglik if Mars is in IInd house. The entire of logic of this Dosh is based on the fact that Mars being natural malefic is posited in a house which has some concern with the marriage or marital aspects, e.g. Ist House, nature of the native; IVth house for domestic peace; VIIth house for marriage itself; VIIIth house for life of wife; XIIth House for sexual pleasures; and the last IInd house for family. But we know that there are other malefics also, like Saturn, Sun or Rahu. Their placement in these house will also cause as much trouble. Even if there is no Manglik Dosh, and Saturn and Rahu are posited in VII, with the affliction of Venus, there will be much trouble to the marriage or marital aspects.
There are numerous chances of being Manglik, there are no less chances of being under one of the exceptions to this Dosh since there are various combinations wherein Manglik Dosh is ineffective. Some of them are given below :
Exceptions :
1. If in the other horoscope, Saturn is posited in I, IV, VII, VIII or XII houses,
2. Strong Jup Ven are posited in Asc or VII
3. If in the girl's horoscope, where Mars is posited, there is any other strong malefic planet in the boy's horoscope, (and vice-versa also)
4. Retrograde, Debilitated, Combust Mars or Mars in enemy sign in I, IV, VII, VIII, XII houses
5. If lords of signs of boy and girl are friends, if they are of same Gan, and/or matching points are more than 30
6. If in the boy's horoscope Mars is in VI, Rahu in VII and Saturn in VIII, then there is no effect of Manglik dosh for the Manglik girl
7. If both the horoscopes suffer from Manglik dosha
8. Mars of Aries in Asc, Mars of Scorpio in IV, Mars of Capricorn in VII, Mars of Cancer in VIII or Mars of Saggitarius in XII
9. Following combinations cancel Manglik dosha :
i. Moon-Ven in II house
ii. Jup fully aspecting or conjunct Mars
iii. Rahu in Angular houses (I, IV, VII, X)
iv. Mars is conjunct Rahu anywhere in the horoscope
v. If Mars in VIII but in the sign of Jupiter
10. Moon or Moon+Mars in Angular houses
11. Benefics in Angular and Trine houses and malefics in III, VI, VIII and XI houses.
12. If Asc is Leo or Aquarius
13. If Taurus be Asc, Mars in XIIth house
14. If Gemini be Asc, Mars in II, VIII or XIIth houses
15 If Scorpio be Asc, Mars In II, VIII or XIth houses and so on and so on.
This is a very quick and general match-making. But, in fact, the horoscope of both the boy and girl should be studied in detail, with special reference to age, nature, health, sexual pleasures, progeny, financial status, career, and intelligence. Both the horoscopes should not be wanting in the same aspect of life. Although only 5 lines are written on this, as interpretation of charts has been sufficiently explained, yet this is the most important point in match-making, i.e detailed interpretation of both the horoscopes..
